This is a personal project that has been in development for several decades and as such is a self-indulgent exploration of my own imagination. It is meant to be a showcase of what happens when an average person (me) unshackles their imagination and lets it run wild in a direction that could loosely be described as the love-child born of the union between science fiction and science fantasy. Hopefully you will find it at least somewhat entertaining and engaging, enough to stick around. My actual hope is that you'll be metaphorically blown away by it.
A note on scientific accuracy in Skein Saga
Just a warning: there is very little scientific accuracy here, so if you are one of those die-hard sci-fi fans who wants their science fiction like they like their eggs - veridical - I am afraid that you may be disappointed. However, give it a chance! It may grow on you (somewhat like a fungus). I invite you to take a look around and see this project for what it is; a fun-filled romp through my imagination (the presentable part, that is). If it's not for you, simply move on.
Can I get involved?
Sure. I am hoping to make this project more interactive once the basic framework and rules have been laid down, not only through the online role-playing Skein Saga game that is being created as we speak, but also through contests, webinars and social media. If you are one of those people who likes to flex their "imagination muscle", either through ideas, writing or art, feel free to reach out to me with submissions. If they are of decent quality and a good fit for the universe, and if you are okay with the submission terms and conditions, then you could start playing a part in the expansion of the Skein Saga universe. Just bear in mind that I have to be quite selective about what gets included, so please don't feel bad if your stuff doesn't make it in.
